Day 6 - How to remove something from a picture (1/2)

What I did:

Okay, so much to my surprise there is a lot that goes into removing something from a picture and there are many things that I need to learn along the way. Something that is heavily used is the clone stamp tool. That is what I used today. I need to learn how to use the clone stamp tool first before I attempt to remove anything from a picture. So, the main thing I did today was mess around with the clone stamp tool. Obviously I'm going need more time with the tool to actually get better with it but for now, I will be using it a lot more in the future because it is very unique and handy.

So the thing I did today was a get a picture and use the basics that I know and remove something from a picture. I used a picture of Lightning from Final Fantasy 13.

I decided to get rid of the button thingy on her jacket.

To this:

What I learned:
I learned many things today such as how to zoom in and out, what the clone stamp tool does and how to sample with it. So, the thing I didn't know how to do was how to zoom in and out in photoshop. I originally thought it was the scroller on the mouse but it never worked so I just ignored it. However, I learned that very last tool in the tools bar is the zooming tool and it seems that it's pretty obvious but I never gave it any attention until now. All you have to do is select the tool and then click and hold your picture move the mouse towards or away from the picture and it zooms.

The clone stamp tool allows you to sample something with "alt" and use it on another part to get rid of it and make sure everything blends in nicely so it looks like it smoothly merges in. I also learned about the clone stamp tool layer styles thing. It allows you to make new layers and use the layers under, if you want, to edit and use as sample material. You can select which layers you would like to include in sampling.

I also learned about overlaying using the clone stamp tool and how that can affect your picture. You can use it as a reference to show you what you are going adding or getting rid of.

What I plan to learn tomorrow:
Tomorrow, I plan to continue with learning about the clone stamp tool. I want to learn about adding in colours to make removing things more fluent and how to make it look more realistic. I want to remove things from pictures without people knowing there was anything ever there, so tomorrow I plan to finish up with the clone stamp tool.
